Myrtle Beach State Park

Myrtle Beach State Park is a destination that combines South Carolina’s legendary beach, a fishing pier, and a popular campground. There are also coastal cabins, picnic areas, and a nature center.

Camping

With close to a mile of Grand Strand beach and a charming campground, this state park is a great place to stay for an afternoon or a week. Visitors can camp at the park’s 204 total campsites, which include 66 sites with water, electricity, and sewer hook-ups for RVs and 20 seasonal tent sites that offer a secluded retreat. The park also offers six coastal cabins that are 200 yards from the beach.

The best time to enjoy the campground is during the summer when the weather is warm and the beaches are less crowded. However, spring and fall also offer comfortable temperatures and beautiful scenery.

Picnicking

Myrtle Beach State Park is a wonderful place to get outdoors and stay active. The park features several hiking trails, rental cabins, a fishing pier, and a mile of undeveloped beach on the Atlantic Ocean.

Enjoy a family picnic at one of the seven picnic areas, many of which have tables and grills. If you’d like to reserve a picnic shelter, call the park ahead of time. Otherwise, the picnic areas are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Myrtle Beach State Park is surrounded by green, maritime forests and nature trails and offers camping, fishing, a picnic area, an oceanfront pier, swimming, a playground, and more. Hiking

Myrtle Beach State Park provides the opportunity to stretch your legs and take in nature’s beauty on scenic hiking trails. The park features a variety of outdoor recreational activities and facilities for a small admission fee.

The Sculptured Oak Trail winds through the park’s maritime forest and is filled with hollies, wax myrtles, Southern magnolias, and sea oats. The sand and grass trail is suitable for strollers, kids, and even dogs (per park policy they must be on a leash).

The park’s well-preserved coastal environment consists of serene beaches and a fishing pier. It also includes a nature center, campgrounds, and more. Take a look around at the park’s unique offerings before you plan your next vacation. You’ll never get bored in Myrtle Beach.

Fishing

Myrtle Beach State Park is famous for its serene beaches and picturesque fishing pier. It’s also home to six cabins that offer a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of vacationing in Myrtle Beach. Cabins include AC/Heat, linens, screened-in porches, microwaves, and kitchens. You can also find a wide range of activities to enjoy in this 312-acre park, like hiking and camping!

The pier is less crowded than most other piers in the area and offers incredible fishing opportunities. You do not need a fishing license to fish from the pier, but a daily pier-use fee is required. There are also two short nature trails that explore the natural shady ecosystem you’ll find on this part of the coast. They’re perfect for walking, jogging, and birding!

Horseback Riding

Visitors to Myrtle Beach can ride horses on the sugary beaches and nearby forest trails during a variety of tours. Inlet Point Plantation and Wampee Stables offer one-hour beach rides for riders age 7 and older, while a two-hour combination plantation and beach tour is available from November through February.

Horseplay Farms in Conway, about a half-hour drive inland from Myrtle Beach, offers a relaxing ambiance for riders and their families. In addition to trail rides, they also provide junior horsemanship classes and summer camps for children ages 6 to 16.

If you prefer hiking to riding along the beach, try the Yaupon, Sculptured Oak, and Pond Trail, which takes about 2.5 miles to complete. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in a shaded area surrounded by trees. Check out this interesting post!
